Weather struck my interest at an early age. When I was 6 years old, a tornado hit my aunt's neighborhood in Cincinnati. Since then, I've turned my fear of storms into a fascination. Not only am I not scared of storms anymore…I go out and chase them!
Although, I write in detail the weather forecasts almost everyday, it’s not your typical weather blog. I’ll also share some interesting articles that are floating around the meteorological community, some interesting websites as well as my thoughts on environmental global issues. I hope you enjoy it and I would love to hear some feed back from ya!

Fire Weather/Fire Prevention Awareness Week
continues today with a look at drought and its
effects on wildfires.
Climatic conditions, such as long term drought,
play a major role in the number and intensity of
wildfires. During the summer and fall of 1999,
2000, and 2001, Kentucky experienced prolonged dry
conditions. The lack of rainfall, in conjunction
with very warm temperatures, allowed the forest
fuels, such as dead leaves, trees and branches,
to become unusually dry.

Hey WTVQ viewers! Get ready for a good dose of rain overnight tonight and during the day on Wednesday. Here's whats going on...we have a frontal boundary to our west that's interacting with some Gulf moisture and creating some heavy rain as well are some strong storms. As this boundary pushes eastward overnight, expect all the severe storms to stay to our south but we'll get our fair share of heavy rain. Expect rainfall acumulations from overnight through Thursday morning to total about 1-2 inches. After the frontal boundary moves through on Wednesday night and Thursday morning expect things to dry out and warm up for the weekend.
