Romeo’s Law Stalls in Frankfort

The proposed law named after a Pulaski county dog whose abuse was caught on video tape is stalled in Frankfort. But supporters of Romeo’s law are not giving up.

They fear it will get lost in the shuffle in the debate over casino gambling.

Members of both the house and the Senate are blaming each other for inactivity. Something State Rep. Stan Lee says is a common way of killing pieces of legislation.

Rep. Lee is a sponsor of Romeo’s Law and says you have to put pressure on each house as best as you can as soon as you can to get the results you want.

For now Romeo’s law sits and stays in the judiciary committee which is chaired by Kathy Stein. She has said publicly that she is supporting this bill and would see to it that it would get a hearing.  But that hasn’t happened yet and the the clock is ticking on this session.

This is a chance for animal lovers to get involved and let their voices be heard by their local representatives.  Silence on the issue could speak volumes and prevent Romeo’s Law from being heard and passed.
