Cancer hits one in three dogs.
Among those who are diagnosed, more than half of them will die according to the latest findings from the National Canine Cancer Foundation.

The startling number of pets who are dying too young from this terrible illness is sparking more awareness and research that will not only help animals in the quest for a cure for cancer, but people too. There is a local effort in Lexington to be a part of the solution.
It has been six months since my beloved George passed away after bravely even enthusiastically fighting two cancers for three and a half years.
Four months later in May, his former neighbor and canine "girlfriend" Kahly passed away from cancer. Kahly's mom wasted no time reacting.
This Saturday, July 26th she is hosting the "Bark for the Cure" at the Bluegrass Barkery on Clay Avenue. All proceeds will support the Susan G. Komen Rally for the Cure as well as the National Canine Cancer Foundation.
There will be a "Pink" Dog Costume Contest which I will help judge, Live Music, Raffles, T-shirt sales, and more!
It promises to be a fun time for pets and people and a unique opportunity for people who are going through or have already experienced the diagnosis of cancer in a pet to be together and share stories of love, companionship and loss.
We hope to see you there!
