City Might Settle Overtime Lawsuit

The city of Lexington must now pay more than $1 million in overtime to current and former jail employees.

In a preliminary agreement, the city has agreed to pay the employees and their attorney’s fees, stemming from a 2006 lawsuit.  The total could be more than $2 million.  The proposal also includes an agreement to make policy changes at the jail, including longer lunch breaks.  A judge must still approve the settlement before it is official.
