Emotional testimony Friday, as a relative of one of the people accused of murdering Michaela Watkins takes the stand. Joy and Patrick Watkins are on trial for the death of the 10-year-old girl.
Six witnesses took the stand Friday morning.
One of those witnesses was Patrick Watkins adopted sister, Stephanie Rader.
She said Patrick told her to come to the house the day Michaela was found dead but would not say why.
When she arrived, she saw Michaela Watkins lifeless body in the bed.
"He (Patrick) says 'she's not asleep, she's dead," Stephanie Rader told the court.
When the prosecution asked her what Michaela looked like, Rader said "she looked like she had been beaten to death."
Another medical expert also took the stand and told the court there was no way Michaela's injuries were caused by an accident and that the severe burns on her body could not have been caused by the girl stepping into a scalding hot bath.
The trial will resume on Monday.
