UK Gets Domestic Violence Grant
Thursday, 01 October 2009 16:11
Changing attitudes early, that is the goal of a program started at UK and is now being funded by a $2-million grant.

The Green Dot program was created by UK Professor Dorothy Edwards, and next spring, it will be in half of Kentucky’s high schools thanks to a grant from the Centers for Disease Control.  The program trains students to deal with abusive situations and to question attitudes that support or encourage physical or sexual violence.

In four years, UK researchers will have gathered enough information to see if the program is effective.

The program has already been used on the University of Kentucky campus.  When it stars in the spring, 26 Kentucky high school and about 28,000 high school students will be involved.
