Greg has won four Emmys. In 2008, Greg was awarded for his story about a girl who laid flowers on each soldier's grave on Memorial Day, entitled "Marina's Story". In 2007 Greg was recognized for his story, "The Avon Lady." It was about a woman who saved money on gas and kept in shape at the same time by riding her bike to deliver cosmetics. In 2005 Greg was honored for his story on a high school football player who is also excellent at chess. "He Loves to Beat People" drew an interesting comparison between playing football and playing chess. In 2003 Greg won an Emmy for his hour long "A Year on Kentucky's Backroads." Greg has also been nominated for several other Emmys. In 1999 he won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association for his documentary about the life of a tobacco farm family. "Christmas of an Uncertain Season" followed a Clark County family from the start of the crop to harvest, culminating on Christmas morning. Christmas of an Uncertain Season, with collaborator Chief Photographer Charles Watson, also won second place in the National Professional Photographers Association (NPPA) documentary category. In 2007 Greg served as a judge for the NPPA national Best of Photojournalism contest. Twice the Kentucky Farm Bureau has honored Greg with its Communications Award, signifying the best reporting of agriculture issues in the state. He won the award in 2005 and 1993. He has also received numerous United Press International and Associated Press Awards. A native of Connersville, IN, Greg lives in Richmond with his wife Paula. He has three stepchildren, Kylee, David and Amber. His hobbies include hiking, traveling and reading, especially adventure travel books. |
