Lexington, KY - Chris Aldridge, General Manager of WTVQ-TV/DT , announced today that he has named Doug Hogan News Director of WTVQ-TV/DT, the ABC network affiliate in Lexington, KY.

Doug Hogan is a Kentuckian, raised in Burkesville, in Cumberland County. He brings 14 years of television news experience to our station as well as five years of service in Kentucky state government communications. I feel his real life experiences, sound journalistic approach and knowledge of the market will be invaluable as we grow our news operation.

Doug is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast news and public affairs. After graduating from WKU, he worked as a bureau chief, anchor, and producer at WBKO-TV, the ABC affiliate in Bowling Green. Doug left WBKO in 1993 for WAFF-TV in Huntsville, AL where he spent the next seven years as a reporter, anchor, producer, and executive producer. While in Huntsville, Doug worked for three years as EP for former WTVQ news director Frank Vopicella (and former WTVQ General Manager Mark Pimentel). Doug helped Frank take WAFF from third place to first place in the Huntsville news ratings. Doug's content and coverage decisions led to a regional Emmy nomination and numerous Associated Press Awards. Doug left WAFF to become news director at WNCF-TV in Montgomery, AL. His newsroom was honored with a number of awards including an Associated Press award for Best Newscast.

Doug took a brief hiatus from TV news in late 2001, when he joined Kentucky State Senate President David Williams as his communications director. However, television called again, and Doug left his state post to become executive producer at WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, where he spent almost two years.

In early 2004, Kentucky Commerce Secretary Jim Host recruited Doug to join the administration of Governor Ernie Fletcher. Doug served as the governor’s communication director, and later as public affairs director of the Transportation Cabinet. During his tenure, state and national organizations recognized Doug's office for exemplary work in public affairs. Following the change in state government administrations, Doug has been working at the Legislative Research Commission as an aide to Sen. David Williams.

Doug lives in Frankfort with his wife Lana, and their two children Lauren, 12, and Jacob,4.

Doug’s first day as WTVQ news director will be August 18th.
